Default Hub to Crank Bolt Question?

This may be a stupid question. But i gotta ask. The balancer hub is interference fit to the crank correct? If so is the bolt tha goes from the hub to the crank there as a safety precaution? If so is it really that necessary on a near stock car? The reason i ask is because i was dumb and forgot to take my plugs out when i was installing my 1.6RR's and the bolt snapped. I have not had any luck getting the rest of the bolt out either... The threads are still intact the boltt snapped just before the threads start. Thanks in advance for any info/advice on this.

If the hub is fully on, your fine, BUT if you ever take off the hub again, you have to have the crank drilled out and tapped. You need a threaded rod to press on the hub back to crank snout.
