General LSX Automobile Discussion - I love the parking lot migration....

You guys ever get this?

happens to me all the time at school.

Yesterday for instance, I parked next to one of the new generation Mustang GT's... when I came out there was a z28 and a 99' GT next to my car along with the new mustang.

I love the how the muscle cars stick together.

There's always an attraction to do so. I usually do it in hopes of having at least one side of the car avoid getting another chip/dent/scratch from the SUV's using my car as a doorstop.

and while I was driving thru the lot out, sure enough a pretty new 02'+ vette (probably a c5) with TEMP PLATES (like he just bought it) comes pulling out in front of me... i stopped next to him and told him nice car.. was CLEAN and he was moving on the highway.

I always park next to cars in the same "bracket" as myself, there is usually common resspect for paint jobs.

WHAT I HATE!!! is when shitboxes park around you after you park way far away from all else.

Shortly after I bought my car, I drove it to the movie theater. I parked way out in the boonies, all by myself. When I returned after my movie, there were 3 other f-bodies parked around my vehicle, one open space on both sides. It looked like they were forming a protective detail for my car.

When I park at school, I sometimes get a few mustangs parking near me. My friend had the same thing happen to him in his GTO numerous times. It's nice to see other people can appreciate things like that.

I feel ya. I always park in BFE at work and one day I get out and start walking towards my building and this jackass just whips his shitbox of a car right next to mine. This is 5:30 AM in the very back of the parking lot. There was literally 5 cars in the whole lot and he parks next to me. What an asshole. :upyours:

i love this too, it happens at the mall all the time, but i hate the most is when you park way out and when you come back your surrounded by two crap cars that apparently ad no reason to park there. It pisses me off, its like they do it on purpose. I definitely think i do it along with others to protect paint, b/c generally no matter what the other car is they have respect for there paint as well and won't want anything to happen to it.

I really don't get how people can bounce off of other cars in parking lots and really not think anything about it. I'm not talking about goin to that car and puttin a note or somethin on it, I'm talkin about normal people in the world who drive a 95' accord and ding a door (always a nice car) and just laugh it off. it makes me boil.

At school I usually park far away or near other f-bodies, Vettes, Stangs, etc. and they usually do the same. Its at shopping centers where I have the worse luck. One time when I went to run in to get Starbucks this idiot parks their burban so close to my car and crooked that I had to get in from the other side. I really wanted to just grab a bat or something, but luckily I calmed down. Thats pretty much my biggest pet peeve. :bang:

I just don't take my Camaro to shopping mall parking lots. Problem solved. No damage, no problems.

I even try to park my daily drivers away from the "herd" in a mall type of situation. I like to keep all my cars as nice as possbile, and would rather walk the extra 100 feet than pick up a new door ding. I'm serious about health and fitness though, so walking is fine by me. :)

But you are right, even when you try to stay away from other cars, the bad apples tend to follow.

I think it's great when other "nice" cars park around me though. Makes my car feel warm and safe. lol. :D

The thing is that alot of people, more than not sadly, just view their vehicle as a form of transportation, and could care less about anything else. Alot of the guys at my work are like that, they just don't give a shit about their ride. There are several of them that will bump eachother in the parking lot and on the road right beside the plant, while waiting at a stoplight. They just laugh like it's nothing!

I once told them if they EVER did that shit to me in either of my vehicles...car in sig and 00 ext cab Z-71.....that I would drive one of my dads farm beaters and go demolition derby on their ass!

Back on topic here....I always park as far away as possible as well. I have learned some things though by sitting in my car/truck parked way out...since I have dark tint noone realizes that I am in there, and even though I am way out away from the other cars, people will cut across the parking lot and whizz by my shit within feet! And WHY??? There is the entire lot and they drive RIGHT by!

So what I have found to work well is park either by a pole, or along the outside row of parking spots. Cause sadly enough just being out in the middle alone isn't good enough.

98TA Bandit
12-12-2006, 09:50 PM
Prevoius post just gave me an idea about the light tint i have on my TA, im going to find me one of those police mannequins and let it ride in the back till i park and then buckle him in my drivers seat so people think you are just sitting in the car. LOL, Nobody would even know the difference with the tint and if i put a ball cap and sunglasses on him, maybe for intimadation they will think twice about dinging my door if it looks like he is holding a pipe or 2x4!!!!!!!!! I've never had to actually get into my car from the other side.. that would just be insane on the part of the other driver who must clearly be retarded...

About the theory of migration. I always park in remote sections of parking lots, especially malls. I do this to prevent door dings/chips like everyone else. What is interesting and also frustrating is that other people will park right next to me. "There are a hundred spots out here in no man's land to park in, and you park right next to me, Arrrgh!" Furthermore the chances of you ride receiving a ding is greater. I'm not as frustrated if the migrating car looks to be well taken care of. Does anybody else realize this. I would like to make a new "Man Law" this will go under "No fruit in beer" the law should state. Always leave a space between your pristine ride and other pristine rides. And don't be a jackass and double park sidways"

Thats happened to me a few times, it does seem to be mostly at malls. I think its cool, I think it would be really cool to have an actual muscle car club here, but it doesnt seem like we can get along, its a shame! I rarely get a beater park next to me at school, I park out in BFE next to a curb which seems to be best because I can get really close to the curb and leave a decent amount of room on one side of my car should someone park there they will still have plenty of room without hitting my door. I think they park next to us because they think the car is nice and they are trying to get a better view?

Someone did the same thing to me. Luckly I was in my DD pickup, everything on that truck is shitty because my uncle didn't take care of it. I got out asked him why he did that, he said it's a POS so what does it matter and walked off like it was nothing. All im gonna say is I got justice.

Back on toppic, I was at the movies and parked my SS in the way back right next to a poll and a curb, there wasn't a car in 200 ft. When me and my gf came back there was a firehawk, new C6 and an 03/04 Cobra parked within 25 feet, with one space seperating all of us. I thought that was pretty neat and hadda take a pic with my phone. My gf just rolled her eyes and got in my car.

one thing to be VERY aware of is that parking out in the boonies where nobody else parks sometimes makes it alot easier for somebody to not get noticed breaking into your car.

trust me, it aint no fun walking up to your car and then seeing a damn pile of glass... i still park as far away from the morons as i can, but i've learned the hard way to never ever park my car where it gives a no good thief an advantage.

As far as work though; I've seen how most buttholes drive through the parking lot so I park right in front of the store. It pisses my three co-workers off, but they know better than to say something because they will get the affore-mentioned "stink eye"

I parked with my pass side door next to the cart corral so I had to pull the carts out and slide it over to get in. This pissed me off so bad I went back inside walmart, bought a length of chain and a padlock and locked it through their wheel and left. I hate when people do things to your car while your watching them. I came out of work one day to find a middle aged women and her son putting crap in the backseat of her lincon that was parked next to me. The shitty part was that her door was leaned against my cars paint and her son was hanging off of my side mirror like it was a monkey bar. I walked up to my car and acted as if I was gonna try to get in and drive away, when i couldnt get by her to get into it I took her door and removed it from my paint job and gave her a very evil look and stood between her her son and my car until she left. She told her son to get off my car but never did apoligize or anything. I guess she thinks that me working there gives her the right to disrespect my property. As she pulled out I stood there continuing my stare and made it apparent I was inspecting where her car made contact with mine. She was watching me do this and almost backed into a dump truck while pulling out. I hope that taught her a lesson. She didnt damage my car in any way but she coould have and its very rude.

Hell, I was at my buddy's shop one night (this was years ago) and I hear this loud noise outside. I throw open the shop door and there are 3 punk ass kids (probably early teens) out there and 2 of them were using my bumper like a damned trampoline (luckily for them there was no Camaro at this time-it was a whole differnt car) When I threw open the door I yelled "What the HELL do you kids think you're doing?!" I think all three shit themselves immediately.
I grabed one kid jumping on the back by the shirt and his two "friends" bailed on his ass and ran off. I dragged the kid around by his shirt while I checked my car for any damage (there was none-this car was a tank-'85 Mercedes Benz). Once I determined everything was okay I let him go and gave him a brief speech basically saying don't ever come around this way again. Needless to say I never saw that kid or his two buddys again.

One time my senior year some stupid ass Jr. parked his POS right next to a 80-grand mercedies(i went to a private school) taking a lifted 4x4's spot. Needless to say, tow chains were used, and his car "somehow" ended up in the middle of the lot

I always try to park far away and it seems like there will be a minivan or a POS by me. AHHHHH!!! Also, must have been nice to have a nice car in School. I caught the City Bus every day. I had to go to Iraq to afford mine!!

I do the same thing at work. I have always parked far away from anyone else and recently, due to the purchase of my newer and way nicer WS6 I now park even further away than before. About 3-5 days after parking there POS cars have began flocking to me. A Scion Shitbox, 98-02 Riced out Camaro V6(If you ask the owner it is a 2003 SS) with those little round stick on vents, and a Sunfire. This makes me angry that no one else parked there and now that they see a nice car parked there, they have to park their "nice" cars there.

man, I drive around the entire parking lot looking for other nice cars to park between cuz I know they are the same as me. If I can't find a spot with others, I park my ass out as far as possible.

I dont know if i have written this on this thread yet or not and i dont feel like reading the whole thing again so im just gonna post it anyways......I have only had my car since last spring. I was in MO when i first got it and the FIRST night i took it out with my friend to chill i was parked in the VERY back of the lot near ZERO cars and when i got back there was damage to the front drivers side bumper. Luckily there was a note and the entire transaction of funds was smooth. This year i am going to school in Florida and the FIRST night i got here i parked my car in the VERY back of the appartment building and there were ZERO cars anywhere near me. Next morning there is damage to the front driver side bumper(exact same spot) except alot worse this time. It messed up the headlight, hood(paint only), bumper, drivers side door and was several thousand dollars worth of damage. And this time.....no note. What nice people. So i had this happen twice within 5 months of owning the car and i did not see either one happen. So i have come to the conclusion that you cant win. I guess this really doesnt have much to do with parking lot migration but i just started thinking about it and got pissed off and just needed to vent.....thanks for listening guys

if i see a nice car, doesnt necessarily have to be an fbod or vette, i park next to it, but 90% of the time i park away from everything and there is always another nice car that parks out there with me. its common sense for people who care about their cars to group up and i love to see it happen because when u go out there from lets say the mall u are like hey thats a nice car and what not, its how we survive.

Everyone at my school with nice cars parks in the far left corner cause we all respect each others cars and dont want anything to happen to them. But the jackass cop writes us tickets if we take up more than one stall or angle park. He even went as far as threatning to write tickets if you pulled through the stall and had the nose of the car facing the isle.

So now we just piss him off, in the winter when they plow the lot all the snow gets built up in a giant pile at one end so a couple of us with trucks park in the snow bank or on top of it.
