Nitrous Oxide - Nitrous heating

Searched and read, but still a couple questions. I like to race in the winter time because it is more comfortable and the air is denser which makes for better runs. Thus, I know my nos bottle will feel a chill. Does this have a big impact on the pressure or does the nitrous itself just stay cold causing pressure drops? Will a heating pad work or is a nos blanket hotter? Do I really need to worry about pressure too much while if I am just attempting a 125 shot or will it really make the difference? What range of pressure should I look for in my tank. I assume the pressure requirement varies depending on the size of nitrous shot the system is attempting?

They specifically make nitrous bottle heaters for this situation :eyes: And yes, the pressure of the bottle will drop if it is cold and you will thus, not get as strong of a shot and depending if wet or dry shot, you could damage your engine.

I accidentally ran my dry system down to 200 psi and although it was down on power, it ran fine. If you do this with a wet system, it will run rich, probably 'puddle' up some gas... may go boom boom.
Winter runs are nice on motor.. lousy on traction.

What's the ideal pressure? Yeah, cold good , but even better this year. I got slicks to go along with the nos.

900 + is good operating pressure up to about 1200

years ago when I had my car at the track, and my first ever experience with a nitrous car, I made 2 passes with an empty bottle, car was spitting and sputtering, but no puddling issues. As long as you have enough velocity through the intake you should not have an issue.
PS I was at ~3-400psi that night at half track

Correct pressure is critical to get the most out of your system and to insure the correct AFR for your system. Your system instructions should state what pressure the jetting is based on. Lower pressure will make it rich (but safe), too high pressure will make it lean (lean can mess up the motor).
Winter in TX should not be a problem for the available bottle heaters from the forum vendors (DynoTune, Nitrous Outlet, HSW, and Nitrous Direct), this last time home 40° outside (Maine in the Fall season), to heat up a bottle from 500 PSI to about 950 PSI was about 20 minutes. Once they are warm the are easy to keep warm too. I am running the DynoTune Black heater :usa:
Gonna be below freezing my neck of the woods this time home, so we will see how a 20° heating session goes :)

At least I feel better. I figured I'd get laughed out of the "Nitrous brotherhood" :judge:
