Default What tools should an LS1 owner have?

Yesterday morning I took a drive to the workplace of the guy that bought my Camaro 7 months back to iron out the last remaining bits of paperwork. He mentioned that he's probably going to end up selling it due to financial issues, and a few hours later it was back in front of my house...HOORAY!

For Christmas, I will be treating myself to a toolset to start wrenching on this baby myself and making some real power out of it. My question, then, is what should be on my list as the absolute minimum tools necessary to get any work done on this thing? Also, recommendations?

Thanks in advance, guys. I can't tell you how glad I am to be back behind the wheel of my Z.

Good set of Metric wrenches, sockets, a good rachet, a wobble joint adapter, and a little patience.

Heh, I gotcha. It was a paperless title that was transferred in between two lienholders so neither of us ever exchanged a pink slip and, well, we're domestic owners...we don't understand things that complicated.

You need the following wrenches/sockets to cover most stuff on the car:

8mm (air bellow clamps)
10mm (many things)
13mm (many things)
15mm (many things)
16mm (fuel lines @ the filter)
18mm (some suspension)
19mm (wheels)
20mm (fuel filter)
22mm (O2 sensors)
5/8" (spark plugs)
5/16" (battery)

Otherwise just basic stuff. Ratchets (3/8", 1/2"), some extensions, swivels/universals, and a hammer for when everything else fails.

The best toolkit that I have ever had is one of those ratcheting screwdriver kits with sockets and all sorts of bits included in the plastic carrying case. This is one of those things to keep in your car in my opinion. It has been used to change our headlights to installing new doors on a kids entertainment center/cabinet.

Make sure you buy a good set though. The best tools are like electronics. You get what you pay for!

Band-aids for spark plug changes. I needed many until I got longtubes.

You can't go wrong with a full standard and metric socket set anyway.

Ofcourse. You might end up needing more extensions and wobbles as well as a torque wrench for more advanced areas on the vehicle.
