Default tips for installing y pipes?

well THE VERY LAST thing thats stopping me from driving my car right now is getting the y pipe all the way back on the collectors, (which will let me slide it back on the I pipe)...anyone have any tips? i know alot of it is just muscling it back into place.. i was using a little WD40 around where the ypipe sits on the collector and using a malet.. but unfortunately the malet broke in half . so what are your proven methods / tips?

btw: pacesetter LTs -> TSP catted Y

Its ALOT easier if you drop/loosen the muffler assembly

Leave everything loose as you put it up there, and of course loosen the Catback.

I pull both hangers at the rear, as well as loosen the clamp at the i pipe/over the axle pipes.

I nice 5 pound rubber mallet works. I also always use a little emory cloth, or 90 degree grinder withe a 3M pad and clean my mating surfaces up. Add some silicone spray and go at it.

A prybar and a rubber hammer get the job done with have the strain. If you don't have the tools, I don't know what to tell ya.

At the least, clean up all your surfaces. It takes a bit of muscling, but you'll get it.

I used a piece of wood around 2 feet long and laid it against the Y-pipe. Just tapped on the block and it pushed the Y-pipe further up the collectors.

I searched for an exhaust pipe expander but I could not find one to do 3", just 2 1/2. It would have really helped me.
