Cam Bearing Tolerances
I'm installing an LPE gt2-3 cam (among other things) in my 2003 4.8, and I noticed the cam bearings are worn to copper on the passenger side, but still have the silver babbit on the driver side. A search of this forum and PT.NET as to whether this was excessive wear turned up a definite "maybe" , so I decided to buy a micrometer and measure them. Unfortunately I can't find the dimensions anywhere. The Helms manual lists the o.d. for the journals on the cam itself, but not the i.d. for the bearings. Anyone know what this should be? Thanks.

Some LS engines have the copper look when new. It is not uncommon to see copper in small patches on these engines. It looks like they bored or reamed the bearings in place on some blocks, kinda like the old Mopar engines.
