I don't know anything about solid rollers, but i do know you can have the knock zeroed out in the pcm by a tuner.

I believe someone asked about a solid roller install a while ago you might be able to find it on a search if no one can help.

i got a full soild roller in my car, comp cams cam, crower lifters with the oil hole option, bigger push rods, and t&d shaft mounts. the motor responds very quick and i can rev up to and past 8000rpm. plus i never have to go in and readjust them. I love it, and will do it to every performance car i own.

I have a 248/260 @.050 solid roller custom ground from comp cams.... .704/.685 lift with 1.7/1.6 jesel shaft rockers..... however i can't answer the question about the knock sensor because I am running a standalone FAST XFI system without a knock sensor....

i'm guessing your asking because you think the solid roller lifters will make the knock sensor go crazy????? I know it can be tuned out of the PCM if you intend to keep the stock PCM and just tune it...... I would go that route but then again if you plan on going solid roller and revving past 7200 you'll have to ditch the stock PCM anyway... cuz it won't go higher than 7200.....

We're shifting mine at 7600 but it'll see 8000 no prob...

How's the low end on these high lift 7k+ peak rpm Solid rollers? Were they still fun to drive on the street with shift points that high?

trust me reving a v8 to 8000rpm is quite an experience

but the main reason like previously listed that alot of people don't go solid roller is because the stock pcm doesn't have tables for past 7,000-7,200rpm

you will have to go with a stand alone to get the most out of a solid roller setup on an LT1

its your cam that will determine that....not just because it a solid roller. and my car is a 1300hp turbo car so yes, its always fun to drive on the street, and i dont have to shift that high, unless i want to.

just because its solid roller , it doesn't mean you have to put a cam in to run it past 7000rpm.

At that point, what are the advantages of having the SR as opposed to a HR?
I thought the major advantage of a solid valvetrain was the elimination of lifter float?

__
it revs faster and frees up hp, its more consistant. rev a motor with and without ounce, big difference.

I see, and the "dissadvantages" being noise and valve lash adjustments, correct?

__________________ yes they are louder, but with the hood closed no big deal. also you never really ned to check valve lash if you buy good parts.... the cam question....with anything over 650 lift, you start to wear valve springs fast and will need to chage them probably ounce a summer, and maybe twice if you are a n/a car and power starts to drop off.
