Manual Transmission - Z06/gto M6?

As I understand it, both the Z06 and GTO got these gear ratios in their M6:

Gear 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th R
Ratio 2.97:1 2.07:1 1.43:1 1.00:1 0.84:1 0.57:1 2.90:1


Now from what I understand, there shouldn't be a single reason why I could not take my F-body M6 apart, pull all the gear sets out, and install the internals from a Z06/GTO tranny into my case. Correct? Is it possible to order replacement internals from GM? I need NEW parts since the companies that do Microlite surface treatment REQUIRE new parts (CAN NOT have any ware in).

You can only do it with a GTO. They are M12 transmissions also. GM will charge you double what you should pay. I can get all of the parts for a GTO. Give me a call and I can price one out. We just did a GTO trans to our 2000 Camaro SS. Shifts way better. Keep in mind it will cost around $2200 to do this. The blocker rings for the M12 are $500 for a set since it is triple/double carbon blockers. The gears are also more expensive than the M6 as well.
