Hey, quick question everyone...


If im planning to do some mods to my ls1 based car...and it already has 102k miles on it (the car's stock) should I look down the barrel of a rebuild?

Some mods being a lid, 3:73s, all the main free mods, maybe an ls6 intake, eventually longtubes with borla / gmmg (still deciding) with a cutout, and maybe a small cam?

not looking foward to a strip car, but 102k scares the **** out of me...and if i should do a rebuild can any one point me in the direction of getting some decent rebuilding parts? like keithblack pistons, a specific cam...sinse i'll be tearing down the internals anyhow?

Sorry for the noob question but I just gotta know

I wouldnt mine has 120 K and still runs as strong as my old T/A that had 60 K on it

no ****?? I remember reading...the lt1s are noted for their capabilities for their high mileage but i heard some dirt on the ls1's ability to have high mileage...


any specific mods you did with your 120k ls1?

i have 135K with 06 GTO heads, TSP torquer cam, full intake, and exhaust no problems.

120k with mods in sig. planing on doing heds and cam so all thats left old is the block and rotating assemble

Basically I only have boltons now, gettin ready to put a cam in just need to decide which one, and probally goin to go with some 410's

i just rolled over 90k. do i think 102k is high mileage..yes, but can the ls1 handle it? if its been maintained well you should be fine for some time. Specialyl since lts and exhaust don't really add stress to the engine and a little cam won't hurt either.

I've got 140K and I'm about to do LT's, LS6 intake and a cam swap this winter. I'm not even concerned. It'll handle it.

Nah, not rough, my friend (ASE master certified) went ALL over the car today underneath when he did the tranny fluid for me and said its IMMACULATE. He also said the same of my Torsen when he had the cover off to do my wheelbearings. Said everything looked mint. Its just little electronic crap (IAC, VATS, and the AIR check valve) nothing big.

i had 115k on my motor before i went with another completely forged motor...the old motor ran like new but i really took care of it...synthetic oil changes and preventitive maintenance done on time... you should be fine upgrading with boltons....now if you want to go with a supercharger, for instance, thats a completely different story. you will be fine, do it and have fun.

I thought LS1 engines were usually capable of 200k+ miles. Then again, you guys mod the **** out of your cars.

i got 163k on my 98 TA.. I just ordered a lid and exhaust.... We'll see how that goes.. Runs 13.6's all day A4...Stock!!!!!
