whats the deal on these cadillac V-series lifters ive been hearing people talk about lately?

I've got a set in my LS2 402 w/ L92 heads and L76 intake. I'm running a fairly large cam and the Cadillac Racing lifters with Comp 921 springs and Trend .110 pushrods. My valve train is not much louder than stock. Certainly much quiter than the 230-236 112 XE-R cam I had in my 346. The racing Cadillacs rev to 8k but that's with a lot of titanium along the way.

Arent these the LS7 lifters people are buying? I am curious too, I am gettin ready too put some heads on my car and if these will quiet the valvetrain down or be better for a big cam than stock i may get them. My 2000 only has 28k on it and has a cam in it now and the valvetrain is pretty loud but it dont bother me, just would be nice to quiet it down a lil bit and if they may help with performance with the new big cam i am puttin it.

These are not LS7 lifters. They are lifters developed for the Cadillac Racing engines. I went with them more for stability than noise but that was a an unexpected by product.

When cadilac had to reduce thier CID for racing the only way to make more power was to rev higher. So While they where testing they found that the hydrolic rollers they where using, and the extremly high spring pressures being used would over come the lifter. The new Cadilac ones are used for 8500 rpm and I cant remember what spring pressure, but it was close to 400? someone else may know! I heard they where fairly inexpensive and when I pull my heads to do some 317's they will aslo be going in.

I just bought a set to put in my 408. On the box it says they are for off road use only and not emissions compliant. WTF? How can lifters be for off road use only?

now i remember hearing that the ls7 lifters were also intended for high rpm motors as well. but probably not up to 8500rpm.

They were developed for a racing engine, and GM likes to cover their asses on all bases. They'd stand to lose a lot of money by pissing off the EPA. In reality, it shouldn't make a difference at all emissions-wise.

Damn! Now there is almost no reason to go solid (if you can afford the expensive and lighter valvetrain the Cadillac team uses).
