Default Driveline problem after converter install

I had a 3400, 2.1str torque converter installed testerday. i gave it a little gas and it was running incredibly. i noticed a HUGE difference in the way it ran in a postive aspect. then coming home from my girlfriend's house maybe 3-4 hours after i got the car back i heard this really loud CLANK sound come from my transmission. needless to say this scared the **** out of me. when i gave it a little gas it then felt like something was shifting around and I could hear the clank a lot more quietly if i gave it less gas. i put it in neutral then and whenever i hit the brakes fairly hard i could feel something rather heavy moving foward. since I can feel whatever this is moving around even when i'm out of gear, i'm hoping it's just a bolt that fell out or something. I had AAA bring it back up to the shop where I had it done and they're going to look at it tommorrow. the guy there said it might be a loose weight floating around and if he can get it out then the car should run fineagain after that. thank you all for your help.

the clanking sound happens right below the middle storage compartment between the driver's/passenger's seat. the weight feels like it could be about the weight of the converter, and you can feel something near the transmission about that weight sliding foward when you hit the brakes, regardless of whether you're in our out of gear. I was afraid to go any faster than ~20 after that and being about 2 miles from my house i drove it just enought to get home. it's hard to say, but after the initial CLUNK in 1st gear it seemed to shift/drive fine into 2nd.

Well the being that the car moves then we know its not come unbolted from the flywheel, also since its still bolted then it shouldnt be sliding back and forward.

Loose torque arm mount? How's that for a hypothetical diagnosis?

May be bolted....but bolts could be loose. Car will still move but will make all kinds of noise with a loose convetrer bolt. I've had one back out on me...

Or your converter took a ****.

Even if 1 bolt backed out the only way the car will move is if the converter is attached to the flywheel, for it to stay attached then something has to be holding it to the flywheel atleast 1 bolt....that one bolt shouldnt let the torque converter move back and forward, because if it did then the car wouldnt move.....There might be a loose bolt, but he is describing that the TC is moving as if it were sliding on the shaft.

Ive broken the stock one and a energy suspension one aswell....but thats more of a clunck sound that u can feel thru the shifter, but it never hurts to check.

Hell anything's possible. Maybe it's not a bolt. But......it doesn't take much movement at a couple thousand RPM's to make some god awful noise.

Hopefully whatever it is can be fixed easy and cheap. Good luck.

Default correct title?

So is this really a "fuddle converter problem" or is it a "driveline problem" given you really don't know what the problem is? Its thread titles like this that do wonders for perception.

Let us know how it goes - Im sure we are all keen to know what caused the bang.

i'm sorry to have labeled the thread that,, i meant to add a question mark to the title ("fuddle converter problem?") and if the mods would be able to edit that I'd appreciate it. i'm glad to hear that you don't think it's the converter itself because the people at fuddle have shown me great customer service and while i'm sure I'd be able to get them to send me another converter if this one's bad I don't want them to have to pay for that. if it's not just a loose bolt and the tq arm or tq arm mount are broken do you know how much that might cost me to replace?

greatly appreciated,, I hope to God it's as simple as a loose or missing bolt.
