Just wondering if anybody lowered their Impala or Monte yet and if so what product they went with and how does it perform? I had a 04 Sunfire and used Dropzone lowering springs and the damn thing dipped and slammed the ground like a mother and I'm afraid to do it to my 06 Impala SS. I still want the nice road but with a BMW stance I guess you could say.

Me too...but won't anytime soon. Haven't seen anyone do it here or at NAIOA.com. Sprint/SpringTech make a kit but i don't know about their quality.

If anyone's interested, I just found out that Eibach makes a Pro Kit for the SS's. I believe it lowers the front 1.3" and the rear 1.0" on the Monte, and 1.2" front & rear on the Imp. Decent numbers, not overkill or anything.

I think the auction on eBay was about $250 or so for the Monte kit.

What's cheap about the Eibach kit? Or are you saying it's cheap to buy on eBay? Or was it about the Dropzone kit?

Regardless of which you choose, you may need to remedy a "pogo" effect with the car. Many people who have lowered Imps and GPs with just lowering springs needed to replace the part the strut mounts to in order to keep the strut travel distance the proper length.

I'm not sure where they are shipping from because the seller hasn't returned my e-mail. I will definetly post pics when they're on. I have a local suspension guy that I have used for years and he will be installing them for me.

This damn wheelwell gap is so ugly. I don't understand why the '94-96 SS's were already low from the factory but the '06's seem almost like they're lifted. I can't wait to get these on so the car can look like it was meant to.

H and R . .. . eeeeeeeek. . . make sure they sides are the same size. . . I have seen people install those and have one wheel like .5" lower than the rest. . .looks very silly

35 series actually but yes that does add to the problem. However even with the stock tires there is a big gap present. Same thing with my old '99 Monte Carlo.

I have no experience with H&R other than knowing a guy who had them on his Honda Accord, which looked ok I guess. I would normally go with Eibachs but the H&Rs lower the car 1.6 front/1.3 rear while the Eibachs are 1.2/1.2. I think it would look better staggered because I have subs in the trunk to weigh down the rear plus I just prefer the look. I really hope they are the same size because that would look very silly like you said. Does anyone know if the H&R's are progressive rate springs like the Eibachs?

Ran out to the garage and measured the distance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender, the MCSS is 2". You Imp guys have more than that???

Dropping 1.6" / 1.3" is a lot (Scrap city!!!), especially if you add meaty rims / tires to get a look like this:




IMO if you are gonna lower the car, do it right and add the rim and tire package to fill out the fender wells to balance the look.

The BMW M5 has the look. If I were to benchmark any 4-door performance car, it would be the M5:
