Default Anyone LS6'ed their car?

I have a 2002 Z28 M6, thinking of buying LS6 cam and head kit, wondering if anyone else had done it and if they liked it?

I think for the time and money, just doing a mild performance heads/cam kit would be more worth your while...

Wow, that is a good price... but if you want a little more power I would go with a nice set of Patriot Heads and decent 23x 23x cam.

You can get a budget heads/cam package that will net you great reliability and you'll see the other side of 400rwhp with a tune. Assuming it's breathing half-decently... Oh, that's for under $1,600 though

There's better head/cam kits out there that'll make more power.

i'm tryin to stay a pretty reliable daily driver but with good power, it is currently breathing thru a SLP Flo-Pac cold air kit, descreened stock MAF, and ported stock t/b, it has a LS6 intake manifold already i.e. 2002 stock piece

ls6 cam $100-$150 used on the boards
ls6 heads $300-$500 used or new (with ls6 springs)

AFR heads alone will produce more power than that h/c set up.

A 224 cam will make more power than the LS6 cam and LS6 heads. You've got the best LS1 heads ever on your car already, 241's, might as well exploit that.

224 cam and some CNC'd gm heads would make much more power and be perfectly streetable, you could get them alot cheaper too. You'll need valvesprings and a tune also.

i just threw a ls6 cam in my 99 vette and i like the increase. cost me a grand total of 450 bucks.. 175 for cam 50 for springs 150 for oil pump/chain and gaskets and another 75 on fluids etc. i think for the money it was a very nice gain.. i am contemplating on putting a set of stock 243's on (400 from patriot) or the CNC 243s (~800) .

For stock idle/driveablility the ls6 cam is great. i enjoy driving it more then my 236/236 cam / stage 3 heads camaro.

I wouldn't spend the money on stock parts. Get aftermarket heads/cam and you'll be ALOT happier.

Just get a sleeper cam, and you'll make the same power as an ls6 heads/cam setup would, with stock heads, for MUCH MUCH less

Peace,
Josh

There are better packages out there. Go with a bigger cam and some patriot heads. I have a set of patriot stage 2 heads for sale I can get you if your interested. Or look at new ones but don't go with the LS6 kit as it is not gonna put up good numbers in comparison.

For $1800, that kit is a rip-off. Patriot Performance has LS6 heads for like $400 assembled, NEW. You can find an LS6 cam anywhere for less than $100, bam! Done.

guys gotta realize not everyone wants to go the route of aftermarket cams/ big heads... from throwing h/c on the camaro i got real tired of the valvetrain noise REAL quick... thats the only reason i put the ls6 cam in. its a decent improvement and it has no negative effects.

id say get the 224 with a set of 5.3 heads from TSP with springs and everything which i think is 1575 right now...you are in the same position as me...i want area under the curve rather than peak power and while i haven't researched a ton yet, the AFR 205's seem like a great match although they are 2 grand by themselves. i think the sale at TSP is a damn good deal and considering its cheaper than what you are lookin at now, will give you a very similar curve, just the line will be higher up the graph (more hp/tq everywhere) you should do that

so i guess from what everyone is writing, no one has used the LS6 combo or no one likes it, I agree with AGGIE, I am not dragging the car so I am looking for good power under the curve, when I get on it I want people to be kinda shocked and impressed, kind of a sleeper so to speak a little noise but pretty quiet. The Blur says I have the best LS1 heads ever, I don't know much about the stock heads so I don't know the difference between 98-02, please shed some light on it and I would love to know more.
