Question Fast intake or TB for MS3

I'm wondering if it would be worth the money upgrading to a bigger TB or maybe one of the Fast Manifolds with my mods listed in my sig.

if you don't have it yet and want a cheap ugrade then go with a ported stock TB. I don't think the 80mm BBK's or whatever else is out there is worth the $$ on an LS6 intake. The FAST and 90mm TB is a lot of money but should net around 15RWHP gain. A ported one is closer to 20-25RWHP gain IIRC. I just bought one used and am looking forward to putting it on.

That's a pretty healthy cam that would only benefit from a FAST 90. If you're looking to get the most out of your MS3, I'd pick one up.

Yeah for close to the same price as a FAST90 setup, you can bolt on a set of heads and gain more power. I'd hold off on a FAST intake until after you've got some good flowing heads.

Ported LS6 or 5.3s. You're going to want to get your compression as high as you can while not having PTV issues. I'm unaware of whether or not you need to flycut with stock heads and that cam. I don't believe you do, but if you start getting into something like a ported and shaved 5.3 head you'll have problems. Somebody else will be able to chime in with more help in that respect.

If you're going to need to flycut either way, then check out the Patriot Stage 2.5 5.3 heads, fully assembled with high-lift springs for $1199, can't really beat that.

I never did see the point in using a head off a smaller engine (5.3) wouldn't I be better off using a ported 243 casting (LS6)? And as far as milling them no you dont need to flycut on the stock heads and this cam and considering the Rex and MS4 are larger lift and dont require flycutting I imagine I could mill a set of 243's somewhat milled without flycutting? I dont want to do the flycutting thing....

Whats the deal with using the 5.3 head and not the usual 5.7 LS6 head?

half of one point more compression10.75 smaller runner 220 in the 5.3 ,more velocity for a stock cube motor. more velocity= more low end power.

i bought the 5.3's as opposed to the ls6 heads because i wanted to bring back some low end with that very top end MS3..I have the best of both worlds and didnt BREAK the bank on a smaller runner style head like say some AFR 205's...I also was able to bump compression to a level that I felt was great for 93 octane, and did not have to fly cut which was great, even with the larger valves!

I have yet to install, so I will not comment on personal feeling with this set up performace wise, but I am sure it will be fun..and I will still clay to check for PTV as that should always be done!

good luck

hmm well the car is getting a 4400 stall this winter with a built trans and besides cruising the car only sees occasional trips to the track or to the street to keep the local import crowd in check so for better ET's it sounds like the LS6 would be the better way to go I mean with a stall that big low end is pretty much not used anyways right?
