I was just wanting to ask some opinions on what you guys would do with 500 dollars to put in your car. I want to get some more power so what would be the cheapest and best way? :bang:

12-25-2006, 09:00 PM
headers and gears.

12-25-2006, 09:42 PM
intake and air filter

12-25-2006, 09:42 PM
where am I going to get headers that cheap?

12-25-2006, 10:42 PM

$500 bucks

12-25-2006, 10:50 PM
get some gears, 4.10 if m6 3.73 if a4. and cutout

12-25-2006, 11:20 PM
I already have a cut out but im not sure on what gears are in there? I know that they arent stock.

12-25-2006, 11:27 PM
I would really prefer the slp headers. Shorty's or longtubes.

12-25-2006, 11:41 PM
Longtubes for sure. SLP's suck for LS1 cars, they maybe good for an LT1. Ditch the flowmaster to, they do anything but that.

12-25-2006, 11:42 PM
I could just gut the flows.

dont get slp's... for money's sake, you want pacesetters, for quality's sake, you cant afford with $500.

Long Beach

Pacesetters and ory

12-26-2006, 12:35 AM
what about kooks headers?

12-26-2006, 12:46 AM
Nice headers, but expect to pay almost $1k.

You won't get much for $500.

12-26-2006, 06:01 AM
spray that hooker and dont look back haha

12-26-2006, 12:06 PM
LOL! Thats pretty funny, but sounds good.

12-26-2006, 12:16 PM
Hey splatt, I see that you live in San Dog. Are you in the military?

12-26-2006, 02:35 PM
yep. im military stationed at 32nd street.

12-26-2006, 05:16 PM
my hooker headers were like 430 shipped from jegs...

12-27-2006, 02:03 AM
I am also at 32nd street. Are you on a ship?

12-27-2006, 09:46 AM
yep. antietam. how about you?

12-27-2006, 03:30 PM
Dude im on the Tarawa. Are you still here on the peir or did you guys leave?

12-27-2006, 05:18 PM
i highly recommend pacesetters and an off road Y pipe from Texas-speed and performance. BUT Headers can be a huge PITA to install on an LT1

12-27-2006, 06:50 PM
I agree, the headers are the hardest thing to install on the LT1's. Thanks for the info.

12-27-2006, 11:02 PM
nah we just moved to pier 7. yep. ive seen the car around. sounds good man.

01-01-2007, 02:41 PM
Thanks alot bro. I think that I have seen your car also in the parking lot. It looks pretty good. I have always wanted a hawk but never found one that was within my budget.

01-02-2007, 08:09 PM
I would really prefer the slp headers. Shorty's or longtubes.

SLP headers are really pricey too from what I've seen and heard.

You can find a set of Kooks on here used for the price of slp's headers new.
And from what I have read on here. Kook are 'teh' header. :)

Magnaflow catback and install it yourself.

01-12-2007, 04:09 PM
i bought my ceramic coated pacesetters with ORY for 499.98 with free shipping...the real question..what to spend 2 cents on?

01-16-2007, 08:40 AM
I am curious would pacesetter long tube headers bolt on stock exhaust or would you need a Y pipe and an exhaust shop to fabricate it... i own a 2001 firebird formula

01-17-2007, 08:28 PM
dont get slp's... for money's sake, you want pacesetters, for quality's sake, you cant afford with $500.
yep im with him go to you should beable to get some pacesetters for like $350 i think and hell if you aint sure whar gear is in it get a 3.73 cuz its a a4 car ? right you dont want slp i have them on mine and a buddy has pacesetters and a few other bolt ons and thats the only diffrent thing is the brand and he has more power then me so for power sake, go with pacesetters
