Question Smooth Bellow Really Worth It??????

I am debating on buy one. The reason i ask is b/c i jsut bought an MTI clear lid, and i do not want to do the FERNCO b/c i hear that it crakes your ****! I know that the bellow does prolly nothing for gains, not looking for a gain, jsut looking to clean up the engine bay a little bit.

So would you buy the SLP one if there was a gain or just keep the stock accordian style one?

Well if you are doing it for looks then is $50 worth a better look under the hood to you?? That will answer your question.

If you were doing it for power, you might as well but a tornado and a new muffler bearing while youre at it.

hey i already have a tornado in the filter and new muffler bearings

LOL, i was thinking of buying one used, not new..

i mean the smooth bellow would have to let the air flow a little bit better right? With the stock one, isnt it turbulent? and the smooth one, well it is smooth so that the air can flow btter?

You won't notice a tangible difference other than a cracked lid.

It will barely flow any better. In the world of theory, yes it will flow better, but in the real actual world you will not see a gain from it. Now if you had an engine that produced massive airflow with worked/tuned heads, intake, exhaust then maybe the smooth bellow would make more sense. Thats more like a NASCAR application though.

Seriously, just get the Fernco one! $5 at Home Depot I have exactly what you want and it works just fine. All I had to do was dremel the opening on the rubber some and heat it up to expand. Its tight, but it does the job great!
Sorry for the dirty pics, it was a shot taken after my header install.

I ran one on my car with no issues either but the ones I did read about were M6 cars I think. Mine was an A4 car, M6 cars engines move around a little more.

I have the SLP bellows, stick, and no cracking or anything. Also have the SLP lid, maybe that's made out of more flexible plastic then the clear one. If it fits right, and doesn't put too much pressure on the lid, I don't see why it would crack. Maybe trim it down a bit if you're worried about it.

I don't have any pics for ya Jonas. All I did was dremel out the rubber a little on each end. Meaning making the inner diameter bigger cuz the rubber is pretty thick. I think I shortented the whole thing like 3/8" too.

yea that was my next question b/c it is so thick, was there any problmes at all? i know that you need to boil it to get it on. But what after it has been on for some time and you need to take your lid off to get to your filter? what then? Hey Eric, what do you mean you made the inner diameter bigger?? Sorry been a long day.
