Default Pics and build up of my new 2000 LS-1 Camaro

Well, I guess I'm a newbie to the LS-1 family!

I just purchased an old state trooper car from the state of South Carolina, and I'm fixing it up.

Car really looked like **** to start off with, but it's comming along pretty smooth!

Things I've done so far:

Tinted the windows
Took off the sticker residue on the driver side (working on the passenger side)
Filled in a hole where they had an antenna on the driver side
Hooked up several wires where the lights, sirens, and radio was taken out

Filled in spot for police anteanna...........

This one will be gone soon!

Gotta do some interior work!

Completly Stock (as of now!)

MODS COMMING!!!!!!!!

Sonoco hood (already ordered)
RK Sport spoiler (already ordered)
Billet Grille polished aluminum (already ordered)
DIY cold air intake (cone k&n filter on 3" tubbing in front of radiator)
PCM Tunning (already have stuff!)

This Camaro WILL be painted hugger orange, and I'm looking for a set of stock Z28 wheels for it now! Car will be painted when the hood comes in, 5 to 6 week backorder. That gives me plenty of time to mod and get everything ready for paint. The anteanna will be deleted sometime this week, and I'll try to get pics and post up a "how to" on this mod.

As I make changes, I'll keep posting! This will be my car's apperance mod diary.

Default more work done!

well, yall saw the first step in the DIY cold air induction, so here are the rest!

From underneath

I can't post result's on the difference on the CAI, cause I forgot to scan the car without MAF sensor hooked up and watch the LTFT's. I have scanned it with it hooked up before and after, and I saw a 1 to 2% difference on the LTFT's but I don't think that is correct. If I would have been in speed density, I believe it would have given me an idea the increase in air flow v/s the stock set-up.

I can tell you this though, when I left the shop, I was reading 54* on my IAT before I started the car, and when I got home (25minutes later), the IAT was reading 54*!

And I got rid of that ugly stock grille!

More to come!

Default more progress

Well, I was driving the car, and I hated how easy it shifts, so I got my laptop out with tunercats on it, and started playing. Man, it feels like I installed a shift-kit in this car. The write up on what I changed is here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...70#post6159170

I had posted in the tuning section also.

More progress to come!

Are you kidding me you could have probably got the same results with just buying a lid. The site is full of technological knowledge on dyno results of different lids/fipks... etc. Researching will save you time and a lot of money.

Default lid

It won't save me any more money v/s that CAI, cause it was FREE! I had all the parts left over from a turbo set-up, and just used what I had laying around the shop.

And I don't see how a lid could as good as this, you can't get any more free flowing or colder air than this set-up.

Plus, if I do decide to go turbo, I already have this that I can connect to!

that intake set-up looks kinda ghetto. maybe if you use some fiberglass to mold the lid arount the pipe and paint it all black.

ummm did you ever think about water intake?!?! You may not want to paint that car just yet, you may end up doing a motor for that ridiculous intake before long. Did you ever hear of hydrolocking a motor. Usually a person with a civic of some sort would thinking this way. Please man for the sake of that car (you have a nice base to start with by the way) re-think the lay-out of that filter placement.
