First thing I'd do is try cleaning the key/trying a spare if you have one. If that doesn't work might be a VATS issue. Any chance someone tried to start the car with a different key pelet value?

That's the VATS system (resistor in your key). Check your manual for more information. Connection between the key and the ignition cylinder may be dirty or showing wear.

I have the same issue. I tried cleaning the key and tried the spare set and still the same security light won't turn off. No problems starting.

I had the same issue and was told my ignition tumblers needed to be replaced, but my light was coming on and preventing the car from being started.

It's definately a key/tumbler issue though...

My car has been doing something similar lately. The difference is my car is completly dead once the security light comes on. I then have to like get out of the car and just wait for a few minutes then try again and it normally works. This has happened around 4 times in the past few months so is the issue possibly the need for a new set of keys?

Thanks,
Jason

Read my reply #11: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...highlight=vats

But by now you have probably figured it out.
