Default pump gas limits?

im still trying to learn about boosted setups, and if i were to buy a turbo kit or a blower, what would the limit be on regular unleaded 93, it would see 95% street and maybe the track once a month for ***** and giggles. whats your setup been and what power did you make, what tranny ect. thanks

Pump gas will make more than your stock bottom end can handle.

how much do you want to spend and how fast do you want to go ??

I ran a quite lazy 10.5 @ 145 on pump gas only, although I normally squirt some meth when racing for safety. I just tried one run without it out of curiosity. That was with a 1.97 60ft, 3600lbs T56 car.

i dont have any plans yet, dont plan on getting anything fo a few years, just trying to learn, for example what can pump do on a 346, 370, 408 fully forged with a turbo or a supercharger. once again, im not in the position to make goals for myself, but to learn.

i know im a dreamer and all i have now is a little old stock internal nitrous car, but can a pump gas 408; maybe a 346 i dont know the limits of each on pump...making 800rw, 700rw, ect. basically my ideal car is on who can trap 140mph, run 93 octane and drive to the store to get milk

Well I dont often go shopping in it, but I do drive it the 800+ mile round trip to go racing. So stopping for milk isnt difficult...lol

I agree with ya on that one, but it's gotta have A.C. too. I'm trying but I think I'm gonna have to spray a little meth too.

theres kits out there that can keep the a/c, i like the epp d1sc kit they have, and the ofi turbo kit. either way its a street car. ive been trying to learn about both setups and just lurk in this area. the reason i like the 408 and direct port with a stand alone system with high octane gas in there. most of the time it'll be to and from meets and cruises and a few races here and there. when it comes down to it, its going to be a full weight pump gas car.

thing is i jsut want to see people's setups that run 93 octane all the time, weather it be stock block 10 bolt rear or fully built and forged everything. just want to see what people are making on 93 octane and what setup they are running

Are you talking about pump gas only? Or are you talking about pump gas with meth etc.. ?

Pump gas only (93 octane) with a 346 you can make about 800 rwhp without leaning on it to hard.

More cubes would definately make it easier to generate big power on pump gas, more safely.

on 346 cubes I'm thinking 600 rwhp is attainable on pump with safety based on what members here have posted.

383-650

402-700-750

427-750-800

with the new lsx blocks coming out like the dart and gmpp who knows you're talking close to 500 cubes so maybe 900, that's crazy.

circa 27 deg at 3000rpm dropping to 22deg from about 4500rpm then 20deg after 5000rpm

So basically when racing it would have been a flat 20deg, AFR's low 11's

IAT's measured in the inlet before the TB were 90degF at start of run, ending with 120degF

Straight SUL unleaded fuel, 97RON, which is equivalent to US 92/93 PON fuel on 8.7:1 CR

Ambient tem that day would probably have been around 60-70degF

absolutely.

that's how the pump gas drag cars go so fast.

an engine is just a big air pump. more air and out=more power.

Bigger bore sizes can be more prone to detonation. Just a thought on the bigger displacement...

Lower compression can trump the bore size issue though.

Thanks Stevie, good to know. I'm 8:1 and am running around 21 degrees of timing so I'll have to make some pump gas passes at some point.
