Sounds like its a design issue with the bracket. Tiff doesn't have that problem with her QMP-style kit, but I built the alt. bracket from scratch and made sure the belt is well clear of the thermostat.

The alt. needs to be moved alittle or even an underdrive pulley might clear.(should have a SFI approved pulley anyways)

I am running the QMP/stainless works brkt and mine was throwing belts like crazy too, i even added a manual tensioner...didn't work...then i took the time to align everything perfectly and it hasn't done it since.

I've never replaced a belt. I guess it's the kit you buy.

which alternator bracket do you have?
if they are off just a slight bit they can throw a belt or chew one up. I have made a couple that were off just a slight bit, i had the people send them back to me and i re-aligned them and they reportably work better then

the one i use for my self is close to the thermostat housing but does not touch, also i have noticed some thermostat housings are slightly different from eachother, the one i got from autozone is smoother and has more clearance from the belt.

any pictures of your problem?
