Default Oil what kind!

I have a 1998 z28 with a hundred thousand miles! I was going to put 0-40w Mobil 1 in it! I put 5-30w seems to make noises! At 70 miles and hour the pressure is 40 pounds hit passing gear it goes up to 60 pounds! Idling it is 25 pounds! I have always used Mobil!

Sounds like you have really low oil pressure when your idoling. I have an 02 with about 50k miles, my oil pressure is always about 40 or higher. As for oil, i used Penzoil Platnum full synthetic, but if i were you ide run a higher weight oil. Something like 10-30 or 10-40.

I've run and had all major brands tested, some had higher zinc and phosporus but mobil1 wear numbers were on par with higher costing oils.

Can't go wrong with Mobil1 5W30 synthetic.

What did you hear about the Pennzoil Platinum that he mentioned, and where did you hear it from?

His sources are wrong, Pennzoil Platinum is a very good oil that is showing excellent oil analysis results, and some places are selling it for 99 cents a quart right now! (after mail in rebate)

Believe it or not, I'm switching to Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 on my next oil change! I have been getting excellent results with green German Castrol, but now that my supply of green GC is running low I'm curious to try PP 5w30 out just to see how it performs since I've seen others get great results with it.

And Pennzoil's conventional oils are very good too, there have been plenty of great oil analysis reports with this oil in many different types of engines. A lot of guys have been running their conventional oil at 5000 mile intervals with low engine wear in their oil analysis reports.

As always, don't just trust someone who says "this oil sucks" unless they've got data to back up those claims. Check out BITOG.com and pay close attention to the used oil analysis reports posted on the message board. After a while, you can see the trends as to which oils are good and which oils are not so good.

Yeah, Patman, I'm a member at BITOG. And I have my PP sitting here waiting for my next oil change as well. I just wanted NONOS to show his sources, instead of just popping off at the mouth. And well, he couldn't back it up.

i dont know about pennzoil but i ve tried mobile1 and other stuff like castrol.

mobile one is runing well and with less noises. and most of F1 cars use mobile1 oil

plus u can add engine treatment to it it will help more to reduce engine noises and helps u to gain more horse power

i did try it and its workin well

I just hope I don't end up regretting the switch! My engine runs nice and smooth on green GC, and has no consumption. I would imagine it would've been the same with gold GC too.

1800 miles and about 1/3 qt consumption with the GC in my 01 LS1 M6. Should I try Mobile 1 0-40 or something? Or am I just being a picky bastard

I also use AMSOIL 5w-30 and no oil consumption. Idle about 40-45psi and 70-75 at WOT.

Don't bother, Mobil 1 0w40 isn't going to help. In fact, it'll probably burn more, since it tends to thin out to the point where it ends up being thinner than GC.
