Clutch Install Success Story
I'm no expert but I think when you rev your car to 5k in order to get it moving its time for a new clutch. With the help of a friend we were able to push it into the garage this weekend.
Parts List:
Centerforce 12 Inch Dual Friction Clutch Assembly
Centerforce Flywheel
B&M Ripper Short Shifter
Slave Cylinder from Autozone ($65.00)
Master Cylinder from Autozone ($70.00)
I had the bright idea to try and reuse the original slave cylinder which has roughly 119k miles on it. It didn't matter that it looked and sounded like *** when inspecting it. After trying to bleed the system for 2 hours we were back under the car ripping out the slave to replace it with a POS from autozone. I'm cheap and didn't want to pay 200 at the GM dealership for a replacement 01 (288) model. After the transmission fell on my friend we figured it was going to be a great day. With the new master and slave in place I was able to hold vaccum when bleeding with a mityvac. This was something I was unable to do with the old units in place.
The new clutch is great! I have been driving it for 4 days with no negative signs. I'm so happy that my 5k stall torque converter has been retired and now hangs on my wall.
