Is it normal to feel drivetrain slop while shifting gears?

Default Is it normal to feel drivetrain slop while shifting gears?

for a 98 auto 4l60e I belive it is. when switching from P to R or to D I can feel the trans moving around, is this normal or should I get some urethene bushing?

also do you guys drive in Overdrive or Drive everyday? any major differences?

Hi
There is a good chance it is your tranny mount. You do not have to get a poly mount. A stock/OE replacement will work.

The poly mount will transmit quite a bit more vibration. I have one and like how it feels, but some don't. Also, leave the pre-load plate off and grind down the 2 bumps on the bottom a little. This will help maintain the correct driveline angles and reduce vibration.

I assume your A4 has the stock 273 gears. In 4th our cars have a silly amount of top end speed and less drivability. Unless you are very concerned about fuel consumption leave it in third. Save 4th for the freeway.
