Default Front sump oil pan for chevy II

I am looking for the best front sump oil pan for my project. It is a 1965 chevy II and I am going to put a 5.3 carb'd with a th350 transmission. I have found three different oil pan's but I am not sure which one to go with.
1. 12561541 $253.44 on gm parts direct has picture and say it's for an ls1
2. 12581209 $186.67 no picture but on sticky it says gto front sump oil pan
3. 12579723 $211.61 trailblazer v8 4wd oil pan gm parts direct has no picture

I would like to see some more picture's if anyone has them or can give me anymore info on the oil pan's. I am trying to keep the stock suspension so the steering arm is in the way with the 5.3 oil pan.

As far as I know the only front sump pan is the GTO pan.
The part #listed in the GM install parts guide book for that pan(and listed in the FAQ sticky) is 12561541
I`m not sure how you found the 12581209 PN but gmparts direct lists that as a 2004 GTO pan.
Heres a pic/dimensions of a GTO pan https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....4&postcount=21

Thanks for the picture. It answered all my questions. If you look real close the part number is 12581209 in the picture. Is the 12561541 the part number for the 05 and 06 gto and the 12581209 the 04 gto part number? That is weird there is about a $70 price difference but the 12581209 should be all I need.

Depending upon your needs, you might check and see if there is a used one for sale.... There are a few guys floating around with GTO takeouts that don't need the rear sump pan (I'm not one of them). Might be cheaper than buying everything new. Especially since you'll need the pan, dipstick & tube, and I think the windage tray is different than the rest(but not sure).

If you're looking for a used or lightly used GTO oil pan, contact "Valve God" on the forum. He gets a lot of lightly run and never run GM take-off engine parts. I have bought a lot of stuff off of him over the last 2 years (water pump, crank pulley, oil pan, coolant tubes, etc) and he's always done great with prices.

Which pan was the right pan and what was the difference between them? I am looking to covert an 97-99 ls1 to a front sump. I assume this not to be difficult. Am I right? TIA

Whats better than pics of a pan? How about pics of the pan installed into the vehicle you are working on!

My conversion.........

Funny you should be asking about different pans... someone just posted a good thread with many of the Gen III/VI pans..
