Default 118mph trap speed with factory heads?

My friend has a 99 SS and wants to run a "cam-only" setup in it that traps at least 118mph in a ~3500lb car. It's his daily driver so that is somewhat of a concern. It'll most likely get lifters and rod bolts when we do the install as well.

So what are your ideas on a good camshaft for this situation?

It's doable....I was trapping over 110 with just bolt-ons....w/ the cam I now have a easy 115+ and I have a "mild" cam.

The car has longtubes and will be tuned by a very reputable tuner...what other supporting mods would you recommend?

The top 2 cam only vehicles are running basically the same cam. The T-Rex by Thunder Racing. 242/248 110LSA. Both cars ran 10.30s or faster at over 130mph. Stock heads, stock shortblock.

Depends on what you consider streetable, realistically not very IMO, more of a track cam b/c it doesn't wake up until 3500-4000. Though tuning does have a lot to do with streetability.

My old Z/28 ran 115.8x bolt on at about 3500 lbs, so 118 should be no problem with a cam. Drivability should be good as well.

I've tuned T-Rex equipped cam-only cars to have excellent street manners...in fact, I tuned one yesterday that made 455rwhp and 401rwtq (cam only!). I could drive it every day!

its completely doable, my friend has a 02 z28, bolt ons like a lid, bellow, fast 78mm tb, Dynatech LT's, borla, ESP 1 cam, and tuned. Does 420 rwhp, did 11.998 @118 mph. The cam is is mid 230's duration int/exh, mid .500's lift and 112 LSA. The tune has alot to do with it.

I know 2 friends of mine who both trapped 124mph on stock heads. One was a G5X3, I think. The other I'm not sure, but I think it's a custom grind 236/239 or something like that.
