Default pilot bearing

whenever i slowly move the shifter into any gear, i will grind the gear. the hydraulics are brand new, and the centerforce clutch is a year old. im crapshooting its the pilot bearing binding up and spinning the input shaft. also im replacing the throwout bearing because it chatters and knocks. anyone else have this problem? or heard of it?

im gonna take the flywheel off, resurface it, take the pilot bearing off, and do the rear main seal while im at it. anything else i should look for?

It sounds like a hydraulic issue to me. Bleed out correctly?
If it grind shifting has to be a release issue somewhere.

What do you mean the T/O bearing knocks??
That might be your problem? The T/O should be new w/ the new slave cylinder.

That might be your problem? The T/O should be new w/ the new slave cylinder.

the LT1 T56 has an external slave.

well when i put the clutch in, no matter how long its in, if i shift very slowly or holt the shifter 1/2 way in gear ill feel the gears and itll grind. i was thinking its the pilot bearing binding up. its been like this since i bought the car. kind of hard to get into gear (especially 2nd)

the throwout bearing makes noise you can really hear it underneath the car.

man, you're pilot bearing isn't going to be worse in one gear than the others, if you have a problem with the pilot it is usually when you are holding the clutch pedal down and the engine and transmission are spinning at 2 different speeds. it seems to me that it should be doing it all the time when the clutch is disengaged.

i had a problem like that a while ago it ended up being the pilot bearing was torn apart from the install, it happens sometimes when reinstalling the tranny, when you pull it apart just expect to take it all apart because my bearing was in about 50 pieces. i hope this helps it sounds exactly like what was happening to me no matter how long or how slow u try to shift it grinds it happens in every gear too right?

yea, itll grind in any gear when the clutch is to the floor.

im just gonna take the flywheel off to take the bearing out. im doing the rear main seal too.

How can you tell if you screwed up your pilot bearing on install?

I have fairly new hydraulics and a fairly new clutch and have bled them to death. I still cannot shift into gear at high RPM's.

Didnt know what you had there, I have signatures turned off in my user settings if you had your car on it. Most here are LSx
You have a release issue, if it has been that way since you got it, sure the hydraulics are correct? Things typically dont stick to keep it from releasing in the fork/ T/O bearing area.
Your tearing the trans up on to of that driving it like that also.
Have you tried to flush the fluid on the master/ slave at least, might help it out signifigantly.

my hydraulics are 4 months old... new fluid when i put the mew master and slave in. new clutch fork too from when the old owner put the clutch in. im 90% sure its the pilot bearing.
