Conversions & Hybrids - LS1 truck, hybrid or just a swap?

My /02 Silverado RC/SB has an LS1 from a Vette in place of the 4.8 that came in it. I used the original intake so as not to have to fabricate a bunch of stuff. Is that a hybrid or an engine swap? And aren't a lot of so called hybrids just powertrain swaps?

+1 for Engine Swap.
To me the "Hybrid" means to swap into something that did not come from the factory with the engine configuration (FWD/RWD/AWD/etc), The car model never came with the Generation (maybe this would be called a Engine Converstion ?) and/or manufactor of the engine (Ford/Chevy/Toyota/etc).
The Dictionary has a few meanings.. but this sounds about right for us "Derived from unlike sources"
my 2 cents...

It's more of a swap than a hybrid, but still of interest in here. I'm sure there are people that will see it here and didn't realize that the aluminum car engine was a direct swap into the late model truck by just swapping the intake manifold and front accessories.
Lighter weight, more power; sounds like a nice combination!

It's a sweet combo but I did have to lower the front because the swap raised the front almost 3/4". I got one run in the fall with stock tuning I got a 14.22@101mph. I had no traction at all and was bouncing off the top speed limiter the last 50'-60'. I believe with proper tuning and a good set of slicks on 16" wheels it would be a 13.80's or better ride. :)

You mean the LS1 ran with the stock 4.8 software and injectors and still did low 14's. Thats amazing. Dude you gotta tune that sukka and tell us how it went. Did you upgrade the intake and exhaust also or are they also stock.

I have one other pic that also sucks, I'll get some better shots.
I have a Magnaflow catback and a K&N drop in. other than that it's stock. It just seems like the combo works for some reason.

Does anyone know if the LS2 that came in the Envoy SS and the SRS pickup would bolt into a pickup like Randy_W's. I know they both have the same truck manifolds as his. If they do, it would be a great upgrade for these guys, alloy block and all. Cool truck BTW.

The LS2 is a bolt in. I'm looking at the 446 h.p. crate motor myself,I'll sell the carb intake and use my truck stuff with bigger injectors and proper program.

Sorry my bad! TrailBalzer SS. I got to drive the SRS with the LS2/T56 combo and its a sweet truck. Way overpriced but sweet all the same. Now that drivetrain in a Colorado (basically a rebodied SRS) would be bitchin.

swap is going to make it sound like a simple job when in fact it is not. Re-engineered would be closer.
