Default pulling motor/trans

I think this is where this should go...if not please move it.

I'm about ready to pull the motor/trans out of the car. But I still need to get the torque arm off the tranny. What is the best way to do this? i see the three bolts on the bell housing. I'm having a hard time getting to the top bolt but once i get that off it still doesn't look like the tq arm is just going to pop off.

Once this is off the motor should just about be ready to come out the top. Also, Does the water pump need to come off?

thanks,
Eric

I am in the process of pulling the motor too, but it is coming out of the bottom of the car. You are on the right track by removing the top bolt on the mount.... just keep working at it, it will come out. After you remove the bolt I used a large screw driver to pry the mount open. Also don't worry about the water pump I am leaving it on the engine.

thanks for the reply. I got it all out. A/c had to come off, and so did the alt. Water pump also came off too. all in all two days isn't too bad for our first time pulling the engine.

Most do it from the bottom as it is easier.

Gm put the engine in from the bottom at the factory, and it is easier to remove that way just as Hamrhead said.

I just pulled my engine this week - Came out of the top in about 2.5hours. Having tubular k member and spohn solid motormounts made the job simple.
