Gas smell after driving ?????

Default Gas smell after driving ?????

I'v got a gas smell coming from the rear wheel well - gas door area , after the the car is driven .

Also have a check engine light on .


Replaced the fuel pump last due to bad sending unit.

any ideas ??

Charcoal filter???

This is on my wifes 2001 v-6 Camaro

Check the codes, that often points you in the right direction.

I went to Auto Zone and got it scaned

This is the code --

PO442 - Evaporative Emission Control System leak detected (small leak)

the gas cap has been replaced 2 time in 4 years .

Does the seal go bad in these gas caps ?

Yes it can, but it should not go bad THAT often.
Try a new one and see if the code goes away.
Did you nick any lines when you R&Red your pump?

Oh, I just thought of something.

A buddy of mine said he gets a code ( I believe that one) because of his
pump R&R because the pump lockring is not seated well, possibly because
he bent the tabs on the tank and it is not sealing positively,
or the o-ring below it needed to be replaced.
