LS6 heads /cam/ intake worth it?
For a mild street/strip car, M6 boltons. I'm looking for a bit more umph and i would think this combo will work great and still pass emissions, while having a sane idle. Yes i know there are better things for the money but I'd like to pursue this. Of course it would be an 02 cam. Thoughts?

IMO if you want streetable a TR 224 with a good set of 5.3 heads and the ls6 intake that came stock on that 02 will do just fine and make killer power very "smoothly"

Sorry Rick, forgot to mention that i'd like it to be a "sleeper" setup. Thats why I chose this setup.
BTW, i have great access to a set of 5.3 heads right about now. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />

That's a lot of dough to spend to get a little more power. You're looking at $1400 or so just for the heads, and @ 200 more for the cam. Not including gaskets and such. With bolt-ons, you are looking at around 365 rwhp. You could get a 220 cam and still be a "sleeper", and make more power with your stock LS1 heads.

Check PM's PhatT/A.
I see your point. I just don't want it to be known that I have a heads/cam setup. Maybe just the LS6 cam?

A friend of mine has a lunati 221/221 .510/.510 112 that made around 350 rw in his 99 vette for $100. let me knw by email if you are interested. By the way, it was hard to tell it was cammed even with headers and exhaust.

Re: LS6 heads /cam/ intake worth it?
I use to have a TR224 112LSA in my 00 Z28. Unless you were listening for it it was extremely hard to tell. Most won't notice it especially if they don't know the LS1 like others do. I had SLP LT's on my car with Random Tech cats througha whisper catback. I made 363 HP with just the cam swap with those modes and a LS1 intake. The guy that bought my car just installed a LS6 intake and a ported TB. He street races it. Not many have beat him. But everyone wants to race him. he has issues with traction and gearing now. Now if you go with a set of 4.8/5.3L heads and did not port them you will gain a few ponies with the compression increase, more than most will with a stock 5.7L heads and a cam swap. If you stay with a single pattern cam it won't lope as much as the split cams do. But that all depends on you exhaust setup as well. Exactlky what have you done to it so far?
