twin T 70's: what's wrong
i have a twin turbo 88 mustang. it has too long of a list of high performance parts to list here. but don't mind posting it up if it is necessary. Turbonetics did the turbos. it has run right until i had the heads redone. blown head gasket. it runs great at low rpm. when it gets up to high rpm and speed then it starts popping seriously. it also starts to blow some smoke. i was wondering if maybe one of the turbos was dripping oil. The smoke only comes out one exhaust.
Perhaps it is electrical. i can run the car for quite a while, then shut if off to cool, while leaving the ignition switch on so i don't have to crawl out (roll cage) to shut it off at back of the car. after sitting for a few minutes i have to jump it off. i was curious if this could be related to the popping. perhaps the three step i have isn't working right. i am really stumped by this one. any advise?

it could be ignition related but since you just did the heads I'd say its leanin out.
did you mill the head or anything?
do you have a wideband or access to one?
turn down the boost just a little and see if that helps if not then i would look into ignition possibly.

Sounds to me like detonation, especially if you say you blew the HG(s). If I were you, I wouldn't run any kind of boost on it and go get it tuned before you melt something.

i am not a pro at this at all. i have run naturally aspirated cars till i bought this one. so turbo's are a new thing to me. kinda frustrating though. i am not sure what a wideband is. sorry.

i just put a battery charger on it and it is almost dead. so it is not charging. i did have a problem with the heat from the turbo's melting the soldier in the generator. but i built a heat shield and it worked. i have not had a light come on in the panel that is was bad. so i assumed it was charging. i will take it off and have it check tomorrow. but do you think this is relevant and could be causing my problems?

Well, burned wire insulation could = wire grounding out (for example).
I'd make sure that your charging system is at 100% before you look at other stuff. I know from five years ago that low voltage problems can cause problems with the pcm and with the ignition, like if the voltage goes too low you could lose signal.
What pcm system on your car?

I had a problem with my MSD when my voltage dropped, it did a similar thing on my truck under boost. Sorry to say this though, you own a 9 second turbo car and don't know what a wideband is? Car sounds sick though good luck with it. I would fix the voltage problem first, make sure you have plenty of juice to feed the fire, then go from there
