Default inexpensive scan tool?

I'd like to buy a very inexpensive new GM OBD II scan tool, just for reading codes and capable of deleting "SES" lights for my cars and trucks. What is the most reasonably-priced, fairly reliable unit that I can add to my toolbox, and can it be picked up at a local parts store? Thanks. WJ

We have EFILive units for $249. That is about the best deal out. You get an awsome tool for 1000s less than a tech2.

Thanks. I'm really just looking for a hand-held piece that will read and delete codes, particularly on my GM work vans. I leave my performance tuning to a sponsor....just was wondering what was a popular inexpensive unit that people use w/o getting too exotic.... WJ

just deleting and reading codes dont always make your job easy. It is important to make sure anything you buy had enhanced GM perameters and the ability to display data besides just codes. It will help you alot more than just having a generic perameter scan too.

What are the enhanced gm parameters that you don't get with some of the generic scanners?

For Efilive you can download the software and look for your self i believe. www.efilive.com Go to the download tab. Then download the software and then click on the scan tool. Then click the PID tab. It will give you the list. It is in the hundreds.

I have a LS1M. http://www.ls1m.com/ It is all on a pda. It can read and clear codes. It also displays a lot of data and can log. I like it most because it is so small.
