tripometer problems

tripometer problems
i am having problem with my tripometer for the past month or so. it always resets itself back to 0 when i turn the car off and go to turn it on again. anyone else ever had this problem..what can it be?

The '99 cars do that when the battery voltage is low. Check the connections/battery. There's a GM TSB on it for replacing the gauge cluster if it continues.

it didnt start doing it until i installed the headers and tuned it up. i also removed the AIR, 02 sensor and EGR. my check engine light has been on for a while because i havent gotten all the stuff deleted. could this have anything to do with it/??

Nah, shouldn't have anything to do with it. I'd bring the battery somewhere and have it load tested - most parts stores will check it for free. I'll see if I can find a link somewhere of the actual TSB.

yeah i have a slight whine in my alternator when it get damp outside. im gonna bring it to the shop this weekend and have the alternator checked and get the battery checked i havent had the car long enough to know if the battery is good or not so here comes the shop

yeah thats what mine is doing but i dont have a warranty unfortunatly. but ill have to call chevy and see what they say and see how much they want. i dont really want to get it from ebay cause people may of had the same problem and posted it on ebay saying nothing it wrong with it. so hopefully i dont get raped to bad on this one
