I am building a dedicated track car for road racing. I will be putting an LS1 in a BMW E36. Anyway, I will never use 6th gear on the track due to its gear ratio. Would I be better ditching the 6 speed in favor of a 5 speed. I have been told the T56 is beefier than the 5 speed. I really don't want to haul around the extra weight of the 6 speed unless it is worth for the extra strength. Any comments would be appreciated (but don't comment on my choice of cars...BMW )

You can also remove the 5/6 gear or g-force sells aftermarket gear setups that would make 5th and 6th more useable.
