GM High Tech, stock LS1 on Engine dyno puts out 400.4 HP - 411.3 ft-lbs!
In the January 2007 issue of GM High Tech Performance Magazine, they dyno a STOCK LS1, and I quote:
“In the baseline dyno run, the stock LS1 surprised everyone by churning out a whopping 400.4 hp at 5,600 and 411.3 ft-lbs of torque at 4,800 rpm.”
“With numbers very close to the larger displacement LS2's previously tested in the magazine, this was one stout little LS1.”
“The little LS1--all 346 ci of it--is clearly a remarkable piece of engineering hardware. Any engine that can put out 400 hp with over 410 lb-ft of torque in stock configuration is phenomenal.”
All this information can be found in the January 2007 GM High Tech Performance Magazine, and the article is called “LS1 Engine Build - Dyno Magic!”

It was a 60k mile `2000 F-body LS1 with a LS6 intake and the 28lb injectors
All stock except PRC gold double valve springs and Kooks Dyno Headers.
And yes it was FWHP.
They later put the MS4 in and made 482 HP & 439 TQ

Nice numbers but I wouldn't call it stock with the LS6 intake and headers. Even without the stock restrictive F-body airbox it's no longer stock configuration. But considering some cars were putting out right around 300 rwhp through the stock setup on the car, 400 fwhp with intake and headers isn't surprising at all. What a great motor the LS1 is.

I have read the mag and that engine was not STOCK. The mag was trying to push it off as stock but it was not with things like all pullies removed and outfited with a electric oil pump, Long tube headers, LS6 intake and a HP tune and there were a few small other things.

perhaps with bolt on mods, I guess you could argue that it's "stock" as the block is untouched and LS6 intake comes on 01-02 models, but that misleading. It's no better than if a magazne ran a gutted Z28 stripper on slicks w/weight reduction and published the stock Z28 time as a 12.8

Those numbers are still VERY good for a STOCK internal LS1!
GM High Tech Performance Magazine:
“The test engine was a stock 2000 LS1 that formerly resided between the wheel wells of an F-body. With over 60,000 miles on the odometer, the test engine is just your run of the mill '00 LS1.”
“The intake and fuel injectors were updated to 2001 F-body specs that included an LS6 intake and 28-lb. fuel injectors.”
“Dyno headers provided by Sunset were a set of Kooks 1.875-inch units that were modified with longer primaries and collectors (35-inch primaries and 8-inch collectors) to provide adequate clearance on the dyno.”
“The DTS specific cooling system provides for the cooling requirements of the engine, and no engine accessory belts were required since a Meziere electric water pump was utilized.”
“Aftermarket accessories were limited to a set of PRC Gold double valve springs, MSD 8.5 plug wires, NGK TR55 spark plugs and a Hypertech 160 degree thermostat. The factory springs were replaced due to the number of miles, but more importantly for the second test which would necessitate a valve spring that could handle lift exceeding .600.”
I’m still VERY impressed w/ the LS1!!!
