Can TTY bolts be used with headgaskets that need retorquing after a heat cycle?
Can you retorque Stock headbolts when say.. running Cometic gaskets?

You can use stock head bolts with cometic's, cometic's do not need to be re torqued. It's just a common safety practice. If you had ARP head bolts or such, then why not go for it, but with Stock TTY bolts, i wouldn't even try. Since they are one time use and TTY i would pay special attention to the order they are tightened, that can cause a sealing issue.

make sure and "seat' the head after setting in place with a dead blow mallet. (big plastic hammer filled with sand )to make sure its all the way seated before you start the torque sequence. Im goin to use cometics, and Im goin to torque to the 22lb/ft 1st setp and then let sit overnight. then recheck the torque before moving on to the stretching stage.
and +1 on paying special attention to the correct sequence of stretching.
if youve already did the full tightening procedure, I would not go back and move them anymore. just cross your fingers and let it rip.

at what torque spec does the stretching start? I may just end up going with ARP's, I have not done the swap yet. I've just heard that cometics need to be retightened after a heat cycle and sitting overnight to help prevent leaks.

Stock GM bolts and gaskets dont require retorqueing after a heat cycle.
FWIW, I sucessfully reused headbolts once in a jam. Torqued to 75 in 3 passes. Wound up leaving them in there for a few thousand miles till I had the new heads ready. The car was a daily driver and I had to get to work on monday. Now that ive got a beater, I wont ever take that chance again.

With talk of head bolts, what is the standard practice with regard to preventing thread galling? Anti-seize, lube, or? Does the factory specify the threads be prepped with anything? For that matter, any fastener that threads into the aluminum block?
Thanks,
