Default will LS2 lifter trays fit an LS1?

Some say yes and some say no. Who has used them?

well I don't know. I was told the LS2 are better so that is what I was going to buy. Just not sure if they will work or not

04 ls1s come with the ls2 style lifter trays.I just did a head and cam swap on a 04 ls1 crate engine and the trays that were in there were the same as the ls2s.Also noticed 04 ls1 blocks use the short head bolts/studs like the ls2s.

I looked at both when I did mine, there is no advantage from what I can see as far as them being better. I went with the LS1 lifter trays.

If you do change them, check the bottom of the installed trays for any marked "10". There were some issues with the "10" trays. I found one in my car.

LS2 tray will work in all engines, LS1 tray will not work in LS2. I have not seen that one is better than the other.
The difference is for assembly line, to make sure the cylinder de-activate lifters get put in the right place.
