i dont think im meant to be doing appearance mods right now
im having trouble polishing(posted in another thread) and now i have a painting problem
ok, painted my WP with VHT caliper paint. i see no problem with it, it has a higher temp rating then engine enamal, so WTF why not? so i painted it.
that was last weekend. this weekend, i go to the store and pick up some engine enamal and some clear coat. sand the VHT down a little bit and spray the engine enamal on. WTF!?!?!?!?! its like i just ******* sprayed it with ****** carb clean!!! and no i dont even have any in the garage, so it wasnt possible. how the **** did this happen??? anyone? im just going to strip it down and either polish it or paint it if im too ****** retarded to polish

It's the clear coat... I've had that happen before. They aren't compatible because the clear is grabbing the paint harder than the paint can grab the surface therefore it is wrinkling it up...
Spray it without the clear or use a different base and clear... I say just spray it without the clear...

Every time I have seen paint wrinkle was because a) the paint underneath wasn`t allowed to have enough drying time, called solvent pop, b) the paint was applied to heavily or c) the paint underneath wasn`t prepped enough. If you painted clear over fully cured paint, cured by several days drying time, then you probably missed your window to top coat that particular paint. You should have put the clear over the base as soon as it setup enough to be topcoated, but still almost a bit tacky to the touch.

cant be the clearcoat, i havent sprayed it yet. the paint underneath had a week to dry, dont think thats the problem. the paint was doing this within seconds of spraying it on, in light coats BTW
i think JB hit it on the head, i think the caliper paint is acrylic. i think i tossed the cans out, but i painted my front cover the same way and it turned out perfect.
