Question 1/2 shift fork aluminum?

I've been searching for the answer for a while now, but nothing comes up. I just tore down my T-56 and to my surprise, the 1/2 shift fork is made of aluminum. I always assumed since guys upgrade their 3/4 shift fork from the stock aluminum one that the 1/2, 5/6 and reverse forks were also steel. Is the 1/2 shift fork supposed to be aluminum or steel?

No it is aluminum, it doesnt seem to be problem prone as the 3/4 so I guess leave well enough alone apllies here.

Mine is aluminum, but it is beefier that the 3-4 aluminum piece. Maybe that is why it works better?

True, it is physically larger than the 3/4 shift fork. Thanks for confirming this guys.
