Default differences between a 97' 4l60e and 98+

are there any differences besides the torque converter between the 4l60e's that came in a 97 f-body and the ones that came in the 98+ f-bodies?

thanks.

Sorry but the case has changed in the 98 model. When this happened they also changed the bellhousing bolt setup for the ls1 motor. Along with that the pump stator, input shaft,tc,tail housing and the case were all redesigned along with the removable bellhousing.

thanks for the info...
Here's the situation, my friend is putting an LS1 into his 97 formula A4. It's a GM crate engine so he doesn't have a matching tranny. He was thinking of using his A4, I knew the TCs were diff, but wasn't sure what else.

So my next question is, can he use his tranny and if so, what changes need to be made.

Thanks!
