Default Thinking about getting tuning software-Questions

Hello everyon, I am thinking about getting tuning software so i can start learning how to tune my car myself. Around where I live there are not any convenient places to get my car tuned. the closest place i would go to is over six hours away from me. So, I am thinking about learning how to tune my own car. This will be something I will need to learn how to do in the future................................What are your views on the best software to get..............HP Tuners of EFI Live?.......................Is it a good Idea to try to do this? And what kind of software do I need and how much does it cost? .............................My car is a 02 Firehawk..........................i would appreciate any help.

thanks,

Brent

Start here https://ls1tech.com/forums/pcm-diagnostics-tuning/368718-read-me-best-ls1-tuning-software-best-scanner-best-handheld.html

which offers head to head information about both products.

Obviously im a bit biased towards HP Tuners but with over 5500 members on our forum we have a huge base.

Try before you buy.
You can take a look at efilive and see why its the choice of the more technically aware tuners. www.efilive.com The software is free to download and so are stock images from www.holdencrazy.com.
Creating custom PIDs is much more flexible in efilive IMHO.

HEAD TO HEAD HP TUNERS VS. EFI LIVE COMPARISON

Here are a few links to threads where people were asked to chose what they thought was the best tuning suite.

LS1Tech.com: HP Tuners or EFI Live?

Performancetrucks.net: What tuning Software do you use?

Performancetrucks.net: Which is your pick

LS1GTO.com: Which tuning software?

Hope this helps.
