Default clutch chatter driving my brother nuts!

my younger brother recently bought a 98 Z28 fairly cheap. well it needed a clutch badly. without much money, he bought a spec 1. pretty much a factory replacement right? well after the install, the thing chatters like a ****! 1st gear is horrible, (the whole car shakes). and in reverse, it makes some weird noise and it smells of burnt clutch and he isnt riding the clutch at all. this was my 5th clutch install on these cars, so im pretty possitive that everything was done right. new pilot bearing, upgraded the slave cylinder to the 2002 version, new throw out bearing, resurfaced the flywheel. im at a standstill here... any input????

The problem is the brand of clutch you bought. I would have went with the LS6.

^^^^ indeed. Drive it for a thousand or more miles and see if it gets better. If not, you may want to call SPEC.
