Sponsor Group Purchases - Strange 12 Bolt/Dana S60 Rearend Group Purchase
tbyrne

The stock 10 bolt doesn't stand up to alot of horsepower. Especially when you bolt on sticky tires for the track. We've put together a group purchase to save you some money and to beat the Spring rush for these!
12 Bolt -
http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/ls1/strange12boltinfo.jpg
Gear ratios available are 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 and 4.10. The 3.90s will be noisy so Strange doesn't promote this one. This rearend now comes standard with the Super Strength posi. Each one is shipped ready to be installed. You will just need to swap the brakes from your current rear. Shipping is freight collect for this product so you will need to take care of that with the driver when he delivers.
GP prices -
PRG210-PRGOP8 Fully assembled and dyno tested rearend (less brakes). Features include 3.150" ID housing ends, 33 spline S/S axles, 1/2" studs,33 spline Super Strength posi unit, choice of 3 channel (center) or 4 channel (axle) ABS ring installed, ABS sensor installed, choice of caliper mounts (1993-'97 or 1998-'02), U-1602 S-series yoke(1350), cross over U-joint, u-bolts, chrome cover and your choice of US Strange standard gear set - 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10. PRG210-PRGOP-14 Fully assembled and dyno tested rearend (less brakes). (part # for cars with ABS sensor on the top of the pumpkin) $2219.99
R5206 Upgrade to aluminum support cover $114.99
gmbbp Options: You will either need to send in your brake backing plates or you can purchase a set to be built into the rear (1998+). If your car has traction control you will need to send in your backing plates along with your axles so Strange can use the reluctor rings. $229.99
gmbbpcore Options: If you can't have any vehicle downtime we can charge you $229.99 for a set of backing plates and send them to Strange to be build into your rear. After your 12 bolt is installed you'd send your stock backing plates to us and we'd credit you $175.00. This option is only available if your car does not have traction control or the ABS at the axles. The backing plates are only required for 1998+ cars.. $229.99
Dana S60 -
http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/ls1/danas60.jpg
Dana S60 features -
35 spline axles
HD Posi
Chrome Cover
3 or 4 channel ABS
You will need to send your brake backing plates in just before the rear is built so they can be built into the rear. We can sell a new set to you separate. The stock driveshaft will need to be shortened by 1.625".
The following gear ratios are available - 3.54, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88, 5.87.
The weight difference between Dana 60 and 12 bolt is 20-25 lbs, the Dana is heavier. Dana rear is fully assembled with posi weights around 215 lbs and 12 bolt is around 189 lbs (weight with brakes). The weight difference between 12 bolt and 9" is about 12-15 lbs the 12 bolt being lighter.
Ring gear sizes:
12 bolts ring gear only 8.875 OD
9 ring gear is is 9" OD
Dana has ring gear of 9.75 OD which is alot stronger than 12 bolt & 9".
The standard Dana gear (not Pro) can withstand close to 1200 RWHP.
The True-Track is posi is standard along with Power-Lock. These are good for about 600rwhp. The Dana's posi is alot stronger than a 12 bolt and the 9". This is because the Dana Posi's are 35 spline, 12 bolt is 33 spline and the 9" is a 33 spline.

Everyone that requested prices.... they are all listed in the first post.
These rears are shipped freight collect from Strange so we aren't able to get a firm quote. Rates change with the price of fuel so it wouldn't be the same when they ship anyway. A rough estimate is usually in the $125. - $250. range. The trucking co would call a few days ahead to set up the delivery and prove the shipping amount due.

U 1702 Seamless Chromeoly Driveshaft with Forged Strange Yoke (Street/Strip Use)

whats the difference between the strange 12 bolt and the dana s60?
tbyrne
01-16-2007, 01:45 PM
The chrome cover is offered for the 12 bolt but not the S60.
The S60 can be ordered bare or complete with backing plates installed.
They will not install backing plates on a bare housing. The bare housing is
part number H1100FB, GP price would be $879.99. Our regular retail is $939.99.
I had a comparison between the two rears. I'll see if I can locate that.

also does shipping to a business allow for less of a fregit charge (over shipping to a residential address)
tbyrne
01-18-2007, 12:55 PM
No problem shipping these to a residence. They can also goto a business but you'll just need to add that to your card as an alternate shipping location. Your credit card company can usually do that in a few miniutes. They put the info in the Notes field but it doesn't change anything else. Freight can be a little cheaper if it goes to a business.
The crate doesn't have to be returned. It makes good fire wood :)
There shouldn't be any driveablity issues with any of those shafts.

Yes, you replied after we closed on Friday. But I'm taking care of some things today and can give you a reply. Pricing listed in post 60 -
gmbbp Options: You will either need to send in your brake backing plates or you can purchase a set to be built into the rear (1998+). If your car has traction control you will either need to send in your backing plates & reluctor rings or purchase them seperately. $229.99
OPRG13 Reluctor Ring Set $69.99
The reluctor rings are located on your axles so those used to have to be sent in with the backing plates if the car had traction control But, the rings are now available seperate so that saves the trouble of pulling the axles and have downtime. The backing plates are $229.99 + $69.99 for the rings and then shipping to get them to Strange.
Hope this helps!

Damn damn damn, im gonna have to decide between 9" and S60 faster then i expectedi guess. S60 gonna be abloe to take 7-900RWHP coming of a trans brake dead hooking?
Ive heard due to the bearing placement (no extra bearing on the far end of the pinion gear) that after a couple hard launches they may develop a gear whine? Also, you said the stock posi units are only good up to about 600rwhp, is a detroit locker an option? Anything else that will hold up to the power im looking to put down?

Difference between true-track and true-track posi? HP rating?
I think you might mean the difference between the Track Loc and True Track? The True Track is the next step up. It's going to be a little more durable but will remain streetable.

Also Tis Isue Has Been Handled In 2 Days And I Am Scheduled For My Rebuild Next Week
At The Pace Of Things I Would Say Im Pretty Happy With The Responce Thus Far...

I just ordered an S60 and 1K HP driveshaft from Scott at Driveline. He took the time to talk with me and help me spec the products for my needs. One of the other sponsors who is running a special couldn't even tell me anything ABOUT the special (IE, what the price included). It was obvious Scott knew his stuff, so I decided to pay a little more to feel more secure in the product.
Let's hope all goes well. :drive:

How long is that sale going on? How are we eligable for the discount? Also, How much is shipping (perhaps to southern New Hampshire)? I understand you guys typically send these C.O.D. shipping. Thanks!
