Build my Engine
I am building a 346 with twin turbos. It is going to have forged internals and be able to handle 700-1000HP. This is going to be a weekend car with mostly street use. Please help me picking out my internals, Pistons, rods, etc. I am starting on it asap. Please be detailed and let me know where i can buy them. thanks!

Iron block, stock crank, callies billet rods, diamond pistons, ARP, main studs, billet main caps. Shoot Tom at Speed inc an email and let him know what your plans are. You will also be at 370ci when done too. He helped me with mine.

I basically built what HAMRHEAD described except that I have Mahle pistons and a stock block. I kept the stock crank, got Compstar rods, Mahle pistons, ARP main studs, Clevite bearings, Melling oil pump... should be good for around 700-800HP, I think. The iron block would help improve that.

With the girdle, you do not need an iron block. The girdle will support upwards of 1,000 - 1,200 HP. I am putting one in my build, although I will only be at 500 HP NA.

Twin T66s would work, twin T61s or Gt35Rs are also good turbos for that displacement. How much boost do plan on running?? The A/R is what will determine how fast they spool. A high A/R like .96 on the turbine housing will spool quicker than a smaller one like .68. Also, ball bearing turbos spool a couple hundred RPMs quicker.

Hmm...running that much boost, I would consider running a stock bore iron block for more cylinder wall strength to minimize distortion. As for the turbos, check out some of the LS1Tech sponsor sites. ForcedInductions.com has some good prices as do many others. You don't want to cheap out on the turbos, and whatever you do...DON'T eBAY IT!!

You could hit 900rwhp with under 20psi if your motor is built/tuned right. I've seen 1,000+hp at the crank with Twin T61s running 18psi on a 346ci aluminum LS1, with the stock crank...just to give you an idea. Although, I'd upgrade the crank for security reasons.
Basically, it's all about putting the right parts with the right parts.
I think you would be good with twin T66 turbos. I would recommend running under 20psi to keep clear of detonation, unless of course you drop the compression down with a dished piston to mid 8:1. I find it best to keep the compression higher and run less boost. This way, when you are on the street running low RPMs you will still have decent power and won't have to rely on your turbos for all the power.
Run a forged bottom end (crank,rods,and pistons), decent cam (Speed Inc.'s TU1 turbo cam= 225/225 .581.581 113LSA -1degree overlap is a good one), LS6 intake (at least), some good flowing heads (317 6.0l to bring the Comp. down unless you plan to run a deep dish piston),and of course...a good tune.
These are just some guidlines to get you started. Spend some time on the web searching through the forums here, there is TONS of great info on engine combos that work and ones that don't.
