im thinking about buyin these rims they are AR 18x8.5 ik there not wide but im wondering if a 265x40x18 is a good tire for them. They are 35mm offset please help

they are going to raise your car about 3/4 of an inch because our tires stock whether 245/50/16 or 275/40/17 are about 25.5" tall. The widest you can go on an 8" is a 255 so youll be fine with the 8.5" but i would suggest you go with 255/40/18. If you want to run a wider tire use a wider rim instead of trying to squeeze something too big on that small of a rim.

Do they make a 9" or 9.5" wide rim for them? you could run a 275 and it would look better..

BTW the offset is fine. It should move them out toward the fender more.
