Default G5x3...shifting and rev limiter?

I recently installed the x3 114, PRC duals, and comp pushrods. What is a good and safe rpm to shift at? I was thinking 6800, does that sound about right? also, if I am going to shift at 6800, should I set my rev limiter at that speed or maybe a bit higher like 6900?

Thanks.

If your planning on shiting at 6800 then the limiter should be set at 7k or 7.1k inorder to give you time to react and acually shift. I have no doubt that the cam will make power that high.

Yeah that 114 should carry there for sure. That's why I got it on a 112 though. To shift at 6800.
He's not spinning that high. All the local stock bottom end LS1 cars spin to 6800-7k. They can handle it just fine everywhere except the internet.

I personally only try to push to 6600 rpms, but that's just me. Lots of power up there. Not sure how much more power you are making going a couple extra hundred Rpms, but whatever you decide is up to you. Good luck, and I hope you love this cam, I know I do.

Thanks for the responces. Im not getting dynotuned until another week, so I guess I'll look at the numbers and decide from there. I heard this cam makes power to like 7200rpm, but I need my motor to last so if the numbers are high enough at 68-6900 I will shift at that and set my limiter at 7k like Donaiman suggested.

Also, are you guys using a shift light or other tach or just stock tach?

Stock tach, listening to motor, and sometimes that tat-tat-tat-tat sound.
