Default Dirty Wheel Wells

I havent seen a thred on this so I figered I'd post. What to you guys/gals do to clean you wheel wells and get rid of that nasty grey look. I've tried to clean mine with a stiff tire brush and some bleach white but they dont really come that clean, they just turn nasty again when they dry. I'm think about painting them or using some kind of truck bed coating on them. Thoughts...

I usually use a tire brush with some type of wheel cleaner to break down the brake dust. Then finish it off with a powerball. Turns out great.

Hmm, I just had a good idea. I'm going to take mine off, clean them, and then paint with my black caliper paint that looks good. I have a black car so it'll look nice. Might as well do the wire mod while the panels are off. Thanks

I bought my car with 55000 miles and I dont think they were cleaned once. They are stained I think, I've tried armor-all and tire wet but that doesnt really work, I think I going to end up painting them, I just dont know if I should use flat, semi-gloss, or gloss.

Any kind of regular paint you put there is gonna chip badly from road debris and the fact that your painting over smooth plastic.

I painted my plastic inner fenders gloss black over a year ago and they still look great. Makes a huge difference over the nasty grey look.

I painted mine with a rubberized undercoating spray. You can pick this up at any auto parts store.

Every few weeks I get 2 cans of 99 cent black spray paint at Wal-Mart and take care of it. No need to spend alot of money on it, because the first time it rains your wheel wells will be dirty again.

i used eastwood's extreme chassis black on the metal itself, and used some cheaper stuff from wally world on the plastic pieces. its been awhile since i did mine, and it still looks great, and it certainly cleans up better then it did stock..... i dont drive the car in rain though.

I painted the black plastic glossy black back in December 2001. My car now had 49x on it and they have never had to be re-painted They still look like they were just painted

Call me crazy...but if yours are old and tired...why not just lightly sand them down to get to new plastic..then start taking care of them...paint whil it will look good will come off or stain just like the plastic..just wondering

Soap/Water, Good Degreaser, and a scrub brush. Finish up with some light tire dressing and then wipe to a clean dry black finish.

Before.

After.
