Is this a good setup? Texas Speed H/C
I was going to go with the Precison Race Components Stg 1.0 LS6 Heads & 224R cam.. I was wondering if that is a good setup for street/ strip or should i just spend the extra money for the 5.3L heads. Also my goal is 400 rwhp, I currently have M6, LT's , catted y-pipe, lid, cut-out. Its a 2002 so I already have the LS6 intake manifold. I put down 336 rwhp. And was hoping to stay smog legal thats why I was going with the 224R. Maybe some of you guys from Texas Speed can chime in and give me some advice. Going to have my shop order parts on Friday. Thanks in advance guys!

With your setup I would estimate 420rwhp with that cam and 5.3L heads. I went with the 228R cam on 114 which I think is the biggest cam that can get by the sniffer.
I'm currenly installing all my parts in sig and will post up numbers in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out.

I think I would consider a smaller runner head with that small cam. The large port LS6 heads work great if you have enough cam to fill them up. You probably will not. The 224 would be a great cam with the TSP Terminators or the AFR 205's. They will be more suited for small cams as they have a higher port velocity from the smaller runners. If you go that route, you will have nasty throttle response and a nice flat torque curve.

in CA, no LT's are legal. JBA shorties are i think the only option you got for legal setup. this means your lower/mid range is not going to be as good as LT's, but top end is almost as good. the easiest way to get 400rw+ with a smog legal system is either STS or a hidden bottle
if you must stick to H/C, then i'd recommend a smaller cam (no overlap, so might look into turbo cams) good heads and intake. not the cheap way to do it, but the smog really limits your choices. and of course, you gotta have a really good tune for it, not just some 3 wot passes on a dynocrap.
The best street cam that will (barely) pass smog is a Futral F10. if you get it on 114, it should increase your chances of passing significantly.
