Any idea on what's going on?

-On highway goes in and out of OD going anywhere from 50 to 80mph... this is while giving it a normal amount of gas
-From a dead stop 2-3 shift is going like rrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrr and then shifts... once it's in 3rd it locks up and feels okay.
-If I wack it from a roll feels like I have a 5000 stall and I am not sure it's kicking down to 2nd like it should say at 45mph.

Is the tranny slipping or could it be the 2-3 shift solenoid is bad?

How can I distinguish between both possiblities?

Tranny fluid was NOT burnt I repeat NOT burnt when I checked it, I also changed it and it's still doing this.

I have no HARD SES lite.

When I manually shift it seems to be okay, so I think I will investigate the 2-3 shift solenoid. But me going in and out of OD on the highway makes one think that the band is worn or I have weird line pressure.

I added a little more transmission fluid and it helped the 1-2 shift but the 2-3 shift still feels like it's slipping.

I'm gonna take it to a GM dealer guy I know and have him scan it to see if it's got some soft SES codes (no SES light), since we can get soft codes.

Maybe I will do a Speed Inc. or FLP tranny in the HOE. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Does your Tahoe have the same transmission as our trucks?

Yeah, 4L60E.

I drove it about 60 miles today.

2-3 is hesitating and slipping into gear.

If I drive in 3rd it's fine. 3rd has good pedal and it's firm.

If I drive in OD it's mushy and it slips.

I am thinking the band is bad.

I'll have it diagnosed by Wed.

Maybe I need a sponsor badass tranz. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

john imo the best way to fix this if somnthing major is a gm serta trans 3 year 50000 mile warranty. We are a gm dealer and use these trans all the time regardless who builds them the trans seem to have a very short life span when rebuilding them

How much are those? This tranny problem is going to eat into my trailer fund. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

What spline is my 99/5.7 tranny? If it's 30 spline I'll do a small converter out of a 92 formula.

I'm going to have it scanned and checked first but my options if the tranny is cooked is to do an FLP tranny or a GM Certa 3 tranny.
