Hey, I have a question. Personally, i think the Firebird looks way cooler than the camaro. However, I cant help but notice that camaros are much more popular. I thought that they were basically the same car. So is the camaro actually faster than the firebird, or is it simply just that some people think the camaro looks better (because i cant see how anyone would)

o lol kk. so is it just that people think the camaro looks better? i honestly dont see how...camaros have always just looked like wedges to me...like giant door stoppers

most random people on the street will tell you the firebird looks better. i know for a fact the majority of the ladies prefer the firebird. anyone i've ever come across likes it better. the camaros are more popular because more were made, they were cheaper and they're more of an american icon than the firebird is. the camaro name is much more legendary than the firebird.

both are the same speed. whether it's an SS, a Z28, a formula, a T/A or a WS6, it doesn't matter. any weight issues or differences in gearing can be made up by good driving in most cases. you can run a low to mid 13 in any of them stock, with M6's having the capability to snag high 12's if you can really drive.

get the car that looks better. you obviously think the firebird looks better, as do i and thousands of others on LS1tech. even many camaro owners will agree the firebird is definitely the more aggressive looking and generally appealing car. IMO, you'd be a fool not to get a firebird as you obviously are not partial to the camaro. the firebird is the same speed as the equally equipped camaro (assuming same gearing and transmission).

Dont know about that, i get more compilments about my camaro then i ever did with my lt1 ws6(which had a 98+ front end and ram air hood).

But either way i think they're both great looking cars. especially better then the dime-a-dozen mustangs.

I had a Camaro and loved it while I had it. Sometimes I did like the WS6 look better but I was happy with the Camaro more othertimes.

I love the styling of the Trans Am's, but the cops know what your doing the camaro is more laid back when it comes to styling so the cops don't really look.

I honestly don't see how you could be so narrow minded as to think that no one could like the appearance of a Camaro. Appearance is subjective. What's not to get about that?

I've owned both. Actually I like the appearance of the Camaro more. That's probably why I've had 2 4th gen Z28s but only one WS6.

The two different body styles appeal to different personalities.

I'd say they are equally aggressive (with the 'birds having a more aggressive front and the Camaros a more aggressive rear), however:

Pontiac version = more flashy, more bold

Chevy version = cleaner appearance, smoother lines

All depends on what you want.

The Pontiacs (TA's, Formula's) are kind of flashier looking, more aggressive contours to them, whereas the Camaro has a more subtle looking exterior. Personally I like the Camaro better, which is why I bought one. Most of the people I know always hound me about not getting the Pontiac.
